Reviewed listing: NYSE:HL · Analysis dated Oct 13, 2026
How does the company make money?
Hecla operates silver mines in the United States and Canada and also sells gold, lead, and zinc. The Casa Berardi gold mine was sold in March 2026, putting silver more squarely in focus.
What supports the business?
Hecla is now generating significantly more cash after investments and has repaid its remaining bond debt. This strengthens its ability to expand existing mines and weather weaker metal prices.
What could improve?
Additional production from existing facilities and successful new deposits could increase the company’s value. Projects must prove economically viable; good drilling results alone are not enough.
How is the stock price assessed?
This assessment refers to the analysis and its quoted price shown here. It is not a live quote or a personal recommendation to buy.
At 16.84 USD, the stock looks expensive despite the improved financial position. Even simply doubling the strong cash surplus from the first half would represent only about 5% of the calculated share value per year.
What is the main risk?
Falling silver and gold prices could sharply reduce profits while the mines continue to require investment. In addition, expected silver production at Keno Hill was lowered.
What is the overall assessment?
Watch: Hecla has significantly improved its earnings and financing capacity. At 16.84 USD, however, the valuation requires sustained high cash generation, which, given dependence on metal prices and investment needs, does not yet produce a convincingly positive overall balance.
